This is the story of Periphyton in the Everglades—a foundational community of organisms and a hero in the fight against pollution. The data visualizations here demonstrate the relationship between periphyton and phosphorus and the impact of phosphorus on the Everglades and water quality in South Florida. Periphyton, this unsung hero and truth-teller, is vital not only to the entire food web, but also to the health of South Florida’s waters. The data tells the story.
