Statement

My works consist of representational, figurative and portrait paintings. They are usually painted with acrylic paint on various surfaces and are rich with texture. I use myself as a model for most of my work because my concepts typically derive from fleeting moments that I experience. With that being said, instead of seeing my works as self portraits, I instead see myself as a character existing in a painted reality.

In my works I explore how different elements around the figure can create an implied narrative. The figures in my pieces are often still, almost existing in peace, but the viewer may sense that there is something amiss in the paintings. This feeling could be derived from the direction the figure's expression, to the title, and how color and light are handled.
