Statement
My short film ‘Blink’ portrays the life of one man who seeks for his own salvation. The main character had an unhappy life, suffering from his alcoholic father. The film's story contains a total of three different backgrounds and eras: the protagonist's childhood, adolescence, and the present of becoming an adult. In the preview of the film, the viewers can get a glimpse of the main character's childhood. A lot of strange creatures represent the main character’s trauma, and visualize the stress and the character’s mental state as the story progresses. The film is full of symbolism, intending to give small details and hints, foreshadowing the film’s ending so viewers can guess. Because there is no conversation, creating a certain mood was an important key for this film. Strong visuals and sound such as heavy shadow, sunset sky, and the noise of cicada were used to create an eerie vibe and atmosphere. The viewers watch someone who could not be saved during his entire life, accomplish his own final salvation in the end.
