Statement
As a printmaker and designer based in Baltimore, Maryland, I have always been drawn to more intuitive work and much of my recent work within printmaking has been a pursuit of instinctive exploration. While such explorations have introduced me to new practices, techniques, and opportunities, at times this approach has left me feeling directionless in my art making. However, through my explorations, I have come to realize that it is the exploration itself that I truly enjoy and printmaking is one tool of expression I like to keep handy. My work has been influenced by my interests in music, pop art, and post-modern design as well as concepts and ideologies that have occupied my mind.
Something that occupies my mind are the ways I have observed artists, printmakers, and creators I admire on social media, explore and expand their own practices through limitation. For myself, limitation has meant taking my processes off the press and into more portable means of making by exploring the usage of stamps and small relief blocks, my work "Stamp Sunrise" being one such example. As I continue to discover the best outlet for my intuitive approach, I seek to push my print work further in the direction of tactility.
