September 2019 Campus Community Memo

Welcome Back!

We hope you had a great summer. To get the year started off with Workday, there will be multiple trainings for student employees and staff managers of student employees and more in the future!

Student Employment Trainings are: September 24 and 26

After receiving feedback directly from student employees, student recruitment processes have been enhanced to allow for more visibility into opportunities across campus. These processes also allow for a more structured recruitment process. Trainings will cover the newly enhanced student employment and onboarding processes from the student and manager perspective.

Students and Managers will receive detailed information and sign-up sheets via e-mail.

Recruitment Guide for Managers

As discussed during previous trainings, a recruitment guide to help managers navigate the recruitment process for Staff and Faculty has been developed and is available here. The recruitment guide to help managers navigate the recruitment process for Students can be found here. These guides include instructions on how to create job requisitions, how to review candidate materials, etc.

We will continue to develop new instructions and will post to the Workday webpage as they become available. Please click here for resources currently available.

Finance - Go-Live is Approaching!

We had a busy summer and would like to thank all of the Workday Finance Champions for completing End to End testing of the system. The Vice Presidents and their teams reviewed the Financial Data Model.

We are finalizing our training material and schedule - training will occur between mid-October and early
November. You will receive an invite to the training appropriate to your role in the next couple of weeks with the required training based on your role.

If your role includes Workday Finance administrative functions such as processing purchase orders, payments for invoices, payments for independent contractors, preparing M&T corporate card reports, or monitoring budgets and reporting and you do not receive an email within the next 2 weeks, please contact Karie Bowman (kbowman@mica.edu) for further assistance.

As we approach Workday Finance go-live, please keep in mind that we will be sending additional communications with specific dates that will cover Accounts Payable deadline dates to submit invoices and expense reports.
