Email Possibilities for MICA / App
In the past, email was the preferred method of communication for important notices, events and general information. Now that MICA / App is here, there’s a much more efficient way to get your message in front of the student body. Here are a few use cases for notifying students in the app.

FAQ
Q: What if I don’t have a smartphone?
A: You can access the student app on a desktop at here. Some features are limited in the desktop version because you can’t log into the site.
Q: What if I’m in another country and I can’t access the US app stores to download the MICA / App?
A: There is a workaround here that you can try to get access to the US app stores.
Q: What are the rules around posting to the campus wall on the app?
A: Please see the MICA / App Wall and Event Posting Policy for more information.
Q: I’ve heard I need to upgrade my iPhone? Will my iPhone run MICA / App?
A: There has been a recently discovered issue with the Duo authentication system MICA uses for login services that doesn’t play well with MICA / App. The issues is not with MICA/App but with Duo. Duo is aware of the issue and is actively working on a fix. Until that fix is released, iPhone users will have to be running the latest version of iOS—13.6.1—to use MICA / App. Here’s how to check your version and update your OS if needed.
Here’s the list of iPhones that are able to run iOS 13.6.1:
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro
- iPhone 11 Pro Max
- iPhone XS
- iPhone XS Max
- iPhone XR
- iPhone X
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone 7
- iPhone 7 Plus
- iPhone 6s
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone SE
If your phone is not on this list, don’t worry. We expect Duo to release an update shortly. Once that happens, it will no longer be necessary to have the latest version of if iOS installed. In fact, MICA / App requires a minimum of iOS 10 to run, which is compatible with a broader range of iPhones down to the iPhone 5, released in 2012.
In the meantime, some users have reported success getting around the bug with Duo by authenticating using the passcode option of Duo. Here’s a short video on how to do that:
Please note: This is an unofficial fix and may not work for everyone!
