MICA/ MASS MoCA Residency
Offering fully funded multi week artist residencies in Fall / Winter 2022 for two current MICA MFA and MA students with a graduation year of 2022. Applications are welcome from artists of all disciplines (painters, writers, installation artists, fiber artists, printmakers, designers, photographers, film/video, etc.) For more information and to apply, head to: www.massmoca.org/studios
Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture
MICA will award a full scholarship to a successful MFA or MA graduate applicant for the Class of 2022. All visual art practices are encouraged to apply. Interested MFA and MA students from the Class of 2022 should apply directly through Skowhegan.
Monson Arts Residency
One month residency at Monson Arts located at the edge of Maine’s North Woods- a 3.5 million acres of forest bordering Canada. It is the last town on the Appalachian Trail before the beginning of the 100-Mile Wilderness that leads to Mount Katahdin. Applicants should choose (3) options for preferred dates from the Monson Arts schedule in their online application. The selected artist will be provided with a studio space, housing, and food, and a $1,000 stipend.
Chautauqua School of Art Residency
Awarding a full scholarship to a successful MFA or MA graduate applicant for the 2022 summer session: June 25 - August 13. Artists who work in all media may apply directly through Chautauqua Visual Arts. Join Sharon Louden, Artistic Director, Chautauqua Visual Arts, and MICA Alum and Chautauqua Resident ‘21, Lehna Huie, for an online info session (zoom meeting link here) Friday, February 4th at 3PM EST.
Studio @ Bromo Seltzer Tower
Located in the historic Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower, an icon of the Baltimore skyline, this studio fellowship is awarded annually free of charge for one year to a graduating MFA or MA student. MICA will select the 2022 resident through online application due April 4th, 2022. All MFA and MA students are eligible to apply.
Baltimore Spirit Award
With a cash award of $10,000, will be awarded to a graduating MA or MFA student that shows exceptional promise in painting, sculpture, film, video, mixed media or performing art and is engaging in projects and initiatives in Baltimore. MICA will select the inaugural artist through an online application and jury process to be completed by April 2022. All MFA and MA students are eligible to apply.
Art Commission at Winthrop Apartments
The Maryland Institute College of Art is pleased to open a Request for Proposals for an Art Commission at Winthrop Apartments, 913 Southerly Rd, Towson, MD 21204, for a large-scale diptych painting or mural to occupy public space formerly occupied by plant wall. The artist honorarium is $12,000. Each of the (2) panels for the installation measure 121 x 173 inches. Proposals should include up to 5 examples of previous work, a sketch of the planned installation, artist statement and CV. MICA will select the artist through an online application and jury process. Work will ideally begin no later than July 2022.
