How to Apply for Financial Aid

Aid Award Notifications

There are several timelines for aid award notifications: Early Action and Regular Decision. These correspond to the undergraduate admission decision plans.

Early Action

Early Action is non-binding and enables students with a strong interest in attending MICA to learn of their admission decision and aid award months earlier than Regular Decision. Students admitted through Early Action have until May 1 to make their enrollment decision and make their deposits.

Early Action - Fall

Date Action / Notification
December 1 Admission/scholarship and financial aid application deadline-all materials in the packet must be received simultaneously for application to be considered

Students with incomplete financial aid applications at the time of Early Decision or Early Actions notifications, but complete their applications by the Regular Decision deadline, will receive final aid awards the first week in April.

Regular Decision

Regular Decision is the last admission cycle. Students admitted through Regular Decision have until May 1 to make their enrollment decision and make their deposits.

Regular Decision Timeline

November 1 Admission/scholarship application deadline-all materials in the packet must be received simultaneously for application to be considered (applications received after this date will be considered if space is available)

Special Circumstances

With the arrival of the new early FAFSA and income data now being assessed form federal tax return data, some families may have significant changes in income from year to year income data. MICA will give families the opportunity to explain significant drops in income or other special circumstances from year to year and, as appropriate, will consider the use of current income information in assessing needs.
