Plants make marks in the soil. Humans make marks on cave walls. Some marks are discrete. Others record planet sized-gestures. Dramatic change caused by the Anthropocene requires humans to investigate our species-wide trace. This talk broadly defines the artist’s mark then invites a viewer to explore ways of dialoging with the global ecosystem through selection of materials, non dissociative art making, and defining types of contact in studio practice.
