Anaitza Brown is an interdisciplinary artist who enjoys drawing, sculpture, and fiber arts. Much of her work relates to her personal experiences, culture and identity, and social issues that she is passionate about. Through a variety of media, she enjoys challenging many widely – or blindly – accepted ideas, as well as exploring more personal interests.

Austin Chia (b.1999, Singapore), is a community-based artist who is currently pursuing a BFA in Interdisciplinary Sculpture at Maryland Institute College of Art. His practice involves collaborating with underprivileged communities on art projects that advocate for their needs and celebrates their talents and individuality. Through this, he is able to make kin with people from different communities and ground himself within the different communities he lives with.

Collection Notes

My collection is made from close collaboration with the elderly seniors at Bolton North Apartments and my co-designer. The clothes will be made based on input from the seniors at Bolton North Apartments and each senior will work with us to make a costume which they will then wear for the Benefit show. It is my hope that the seniors can feel seen, empowered, creative and even sexy as we collectively design and work towards the fashion show. Importantly, I hope that even as we push each other artistically, we derive joy and meaning through the process and the costumes.
