Statement

Throughout this thesis project the artist hopes to emphasize the beauty of the everyday. Each book in this body of work sheds light on small everyday moments that the artist tries not to overlook. She thinks that it is important to take note of time spent with those she loves so each of her projects depict such a memory. She has found that by reflecting on these calm moments she is able to deviate her attention from anxieties and stressors. Her work is able to make her feel more balanced and at peace. This is precisely what she wishes for people to take from her work. That if one holds onto the small moments in life, appreciates time spent with loved ones, then one may be able to lessen the grasp that hardships can have over one's life. Even if it cannot eliminate anyone’s problems altogether it can perhaps bring some a feeling, however fleeting, of peace.

The chosen medium for such projects is book arts. The artist feels that this media allows intimacy as it is art that needs to be held and interacted with in order to be seen and understood.
