MICA’s Architectural Design faculty are award-winning, international practitioners in the fields of architectural, environmental and urban design. We believe architectural design is multidisciplinary - an exploration of cultural, social and historical dimensions - and we have created a unique team of faculty that can guide students through their own exploration.

Timmy Aziz, Faculty Advisor

Timmy Aziz is a Registered Architect and a Certified Passive House Consultant. He has taught at MICA since 2007, he chaired the department of Environmental Design and developed the Architectural Design program where he now teaches, currently serving as Faculty Advisor for the minor.

Michael Maggio

Mr. Maggio, who joined RAA in 2004, directs and manages national and international cultural and corporate center projects. Mr. Maggio is currently directing the design effort for the Orientalist Museum, in Doha, Qatar, and the National Cryptologic Museum in Fort Meade, Maryland.

Benjamin Olshin

Benjamin B. Olshin has been teaching at MICA since 2014. He is an academic, researcher, and Fulbright scholar with experience in the fields of design, history, and philosophy. His work has included cross-cultural consulting, research, education/training, and design work in the U.S., Asia, Europe, and Latin America.

Katie Zaeh

Katie Zaeh is a registered architect and teacher specializing in early design education. She is passionate about increasing access to Architectural education for those who are underrepresented in the field. She loves to draw and is interested in how digital representation has impacted the built environment.
