MFACA Alumna Named Coordinator, Clark County Public Arts Program

Denise Duarte '13 (MFACA) returns to Nevada to oversee the upkeep of existing public art and public art education in Clark County.

BALTIMORE--After completing the MFA in Community Arts program at MICA last May, Denise Duarte returned to her native Nevada where she has recently been named the Public Arts Coordinator for Clark County.  Along with a seven-member volunteer committee, Duarte will oversee the upkeep of existing public art, public art education programs and the commissioning of new works in the county which is home to the city of Las Vegas.  Duarte comments on the influence MICA had in melding her role as an artist and activist in the Las Vegas Weekly article that can be read in it's entirety here.
