Exhibition by Joshua Frick. This body of work celebrates the simplicity and utility of the humble cube. Through algorithmically generated distortions and subtractions, these cubes begin to lose form and function, morphing into pieces of an impossible puzzle. In their repeated, cast concrete form, they activate conversations around time, true versus fabricated randomness, and the state of our modern infrastructure. From a distance they look like any other stack of abandoned building materials, but closer up, something foreign is revealed. Is it alien? Broken pieces of another structure? Or something even stranger?
