Using the subject of minority in an urban setting, issues such as identity, environment, metaphor and cultural iconography are combined in a "realist" approach to painting. Okamura incorporates a multi-faceted approach to realism by incorporating collage, spray paint and mixed media. Born in Edmonton Canada, Okamura received his BFA from Alberta College of Art & Design and his MFA from SVA in New York.
