On February 22, 2026, the community joined MICA Icons for inspired conversations and an exploration of iconic thoughts on the College’s 200-year legacy, their presence in the art world, and wonder, wit, and wisdom that foster artistic excellence, integrity, and humanity.

This event took the form of a moderated panel discussion featuring Joyce J. Scott, Amy Sherald, and Lowery Stokes Sims, PhD, offering insight into their creative practices, careers, and impact. Attendees submitted questions in advance, which were incorporated into the conversation. The event also featured an introduction by President Cecilia M. McCormick, J.D., and remarks by Leslie King-Hammond, PhD.
