Gateway, First Floor
As MICA’s premier black box theater, BBOX serves as a platform for a diverse range of works and mediums ranging from traditional theater to experimental and interdisciplinary exhibitions. BBOX is equipped with state-of-the-art A/V, creating a multipurpose performance space able to cater to the wide range of needs artists and clients present.
Opened in 2008 on the ground floor of the Gateway building, BBOX is located at the intersection of North Ave. and Mt. Royal Ave., neighboring the Station North cultural district, and has served as a cultural hub for MICA students, faculty, and alum, as well as local Baltimore artists and organizations.
BBOX was named in recognition of two creative MICA spirits, BBOX is a play on "Betty & Bill’s Black Box" - specifically, Betty Cooke ’46 and William O. Steinmetz ’50.
