Area Head / Film and Video

Justin Foreman was born in Walpole, New Hampshire, where his interest in image making piqued after discovering his father’s old 35mm film camera in the basement of his childhood home. He fell in love with cinema during his undergraduate studies at St. Mary's College of Maryland, where he earned his B.A. in Film and Media Studies. His experiences interning for Ken Burns’ Florentine Films, National Public Radio, and Maryland Public Television solidified his love for non-fiction media production. In 2014 he began working for his alma mater as a digital media specialist, which fueled his passion for teaching. He later earned his MFA in Filmmaking at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where his thesis film was selected as a semi-finalist in the 2022 Student Academy Awards. His documentary work has screened at festivals through out the United States, including: Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, Maryland Film Festival, Florida Film Festival, New Hampshire Film Festival, and the American Documentary and Animation Film Festival. Justin calls Baltimore home, where he instructs at MICA, and pursues his next documentary project.
