Film & Video (Co-Major)

Film & Video (Co-Major)

A Co-Major (with Creative Media Production), or studio Minor, in Film & Video provides students with technical training coupled with a historical and critical examination of the medium.

Students in the Film & Video program explore the possibilities of the moving image art form at a 200-year-old art institution, where fine art conceptualization meets technical proficiency with modern, and legacy filmmaking tools. Students engage critically and expansively with the moving image, working across short fiction, non-fiction, and experimental projects, as they learn everything from cutting-edge software and equipment, to writing screenplays and editing 16mm film by hand. Personal expression, critical inquiry, and craftsmanship join to create exciting moving image art, whether in gallery-based installations, narrative experiments at film festivals, or community-based projects.
