A Celebration of MICA and Art
MICA Weekend took place from Friday, September 22 to Sunday, September 24. Alumni, parents, and families came together for three days of special events, workshops, panels, open studios, reunions, MICA Talks, live music, and exhibitions.
With a unique artistic vision and a vibrant personality, TT the Artist has made significant contributions to the art world and continues to inspire others through their innovative work.
Jerrell Gibbs retraces family memories, examining the origin of his own life by representing intimate and instantly joyous moments. Affirming the multilayered experience of the African-American diaspora, Gibbs plunges the viewer into an immersive experience, the realm of his childhood. Gibbs has exhibited at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum, The Galleries at CCBC and The Gallery at Howard University. His work is in the permanent collection of the Columbus Museum of Art.

In addition, she is a champion of design within the public and private sectors and has led teams with a user-centered point-of-view and socially responsible standards to address complex challenges with organizations such as Bloomberg Philanthropies, LA Mayor’s Innovation Team, and UNICEF.
Hilton Carter is an acclaimed plant stylist, author, photographer and entrepreneur, widely known for his exceptional ability to transform indoor spaces with lush greenery and botanical beauty. His unique approach to plant care and design has garnered international recognition and a continued partnership with retail giant Target and has inspired countless individuals to incorporate nature into their living spaces.
As CEO of Aerothreads, Aleksandra Bogunovic leads a woman-owned small business in College Park, Maryland that specializes in the design, fabrication and installation of Multi-Layer Insulation blankets that protect spacecraft hardware from the harsh environment of space. Her team is made up of makers, artists and engineers, most of whom have a background in textiles, fibers, fashion, or costume design.
