MICA awards students the maximum institutional financial aid for which they are eligible at the time of admission. Because institutional funding is limited, students should not expect that an appeal will result in additional MICA grants or scholarships.

Students experiencing a significant change in their financial circumstances may submit a request for additional financial aid. Before MICA will consider an appeal for additional institutional funding, students must first accept the federal student loans offered as part of their financial aid package.

Dependent students must also have a parent apply for a Federal Parent PLUS Loan. If the parent is denied the PLUS Loan based on credit, the student may be eligible for an additional $4,000 or $5,000 in Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan funding for the academic year, depending on the student’s year in college.

International and Independent students are generally packaged with the maximum institutional financial aid available to them. While requests may be reviewed, additional institutional funding is very limited, and appeals are unlikely to result in an increase in MICA grant or scholarship assistance.
