Workshops & Classroom Visits

Workshops & Classroom Visits

Faculty members at MICA are welcome and encouraged to reach out to us to request writing instruction for their classes!

We are pleased to offer MICA faculty the opportunity to request classroom visits and workshops to connect students with our service and lead them in the development of writing-related skills or strategies. If you are interested in arranging a visit, please contact writing@mica.edu and we will be in touch.

When requesting a classroom visit or workshop, please keep the following in mind:

  • We tailor the approach and content to your course! You are welcome to request a brief presentation about our services or a more extensive workshop where a tutor will lead your students in structured activities targeting a predetermined learning outcome. We can suggest possible workshops or create something new specifically for your class.
  • Faculty are able to request one workshop per class per semester. Workshops can be up to an hour in length. Faculty must be present for the duration of the workshop or classroom visit.
  • Please provide at least 2 weeks notice between the date of your request and the date of the workshop or visit. This will ensure that we have time to design the required learning materials and accommodate your request in our schedule.

Examples of past workshops include:

  • Freewriting with Tarot
  • Writing an Effective Thesis Statement
  • Drafting an Artist Statement
  • Wall Text for Exhibitions
  • Citations and References
  • And more!
