Choose Your Tutor

Select your preferred tutor and format (in-person or online) and book an appointment for a time that works with your schedule.

You can also select a tutor you haven't worked with yet! All of our tutors can help you with academic essays, creative writing, and artist statements, but they each have their own specialties and styles.

Preparing for Your Tutoring Session

Here are some steps you can take to prepare for your upcoming tutoring session:

  • Make sure your appointment is in your calendar!
Once you've booked a session with a tutor, you should get a Google Calendar invitation in your email inbox. If you don't see a calendar invitation or a confirmation email, make sure to check any other email accounts you have in case you signed up using one of those email addresses. Reach out to writing@mica.edu if you have any trouble booking.
  • Double check if your appointment is online or in-person!
Tutors work remotely and in-person so make sure you know the format of your session. In-person tutors can sometimes adjust to working online if needed, but always reach out to your tutor if you need to adjust where and how you meet. If you need a quiet space to meet with a tutor remotely, feel free to request a space at the Decker Library.
  • Share your writing!
Send your writing over to your tutor ahead of your session, or bring a print copy to your appointment if you are meeting in person. Your tutor may not be able to read your whole draft, but sending work in advance can help streamline the session. If you are sending your writing via email, please send it to your tutor as either a Google Doc or Microsoft Word file.
