Spam Protection For MICA Email System
The office of Technology Systems and Services is implementing a spam firewall to control the very large amount of spam coming into the school’s email system. The current product which was installed last Friday the 9thof June late in the evening is in a training mode to learn the email behavior of the school. By Friday the 16th, we expect the system to be put in its full-working mode. During this learning period, the system might make some mistakes such as identifying legitimate emails as spam. These emails are stored on the system; we have the ability to release such emails to users. Another issue is - some external emails might be refused even before hitting MICA’s network; we are working with the vendor to smooth all the teething problems with the implementation of this SPAM firewall. The system will reduce substantially the amount of email on our server and give users more room to store legitimate mail. Please be assured that no legitimate emails will be deleted during this period. All emails that are sent to MICA email accounts that are legitimate, will reach the intended recipients.
