MICA, Maryland Film Festival, Baltimore Jewish Film Festival Feature Israeli Film Series with Documentarians Dan and Noit Geva, Feb. 4, 11 and 18
MICA, Maryland Film Festival and William & Irene Weinberg Family Baltimore Jewish Film Festival present a free series of Israeli films with Dan Geva—an Israeli documentary film director, cinematographer, producer, editor and academic scholar—during Contemporary Israeli Films: Curated by Dan and Noit Geva, Thursday Feb. 4, 11 and 18, 7:30 p.m. in MICA’s Falvey Hall, Brown Center (1301 W. Mount Royal Ave.).

MICA this winter presents "Warren Seelig: Textile per se," a retrospective of work by Rockland, Maine-based fiber artist Warren Seelig. The exhibition will be featured Friday, Dec. 4, 2009-Sunday, March 14, 2010 in the Meyerhoff and Decker galleries of Fox Building, 1303 W. Mount Royal Ave., and Leidy Atrium of Brown Center, 1301 W. Mount Royal Ave. A reception takes place Friday, Dec. 4, 5-7 p.m.

The Senator Verna L. Jones Annual BSU Exhibition, inaugurated by state Sen. Verna L. Jones (Baltimore City), showcases the work of members of MICA's Black Student Union. Maryland legislators and residents view and purchase work made by emerging artists of color at an exhibition in Sen. Jones' office in Annapolis that lasts for the duration of the 2010 legislative session (through Monday, April 12).

MICA faculty member Mina Cheon '99, Ph.D., M.F.A. gave the Unity Week Artist Keynote Address, exploring complex issues of racism, in dedication to the recent passing of Flores McGarrell '97 '98 in the Haitian earthquake on Jan. 12. The speech took place on Jan. 20 in the Brown Center's Falvey Hall as part of Unity Week, which recognizes and celebrates the life and ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

BBOX Features Multimedia Performances this Winter and Spring
BBOX will be the site of an aerial circus-like performance, stagings of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Inspecting Carol, a humorous take on A Christmas Carol, as well as many other interdisciplinary works created and performed by MICA students, faculty and staff as well as members of the greater Baltimore arts community.
