Established in 2005, the award is sponsored by the MICA Alumni Association to recognize students with outstanding capacity to promote MICA in their future journeys as artists.
The Alumni Award for Student Leadership is given annually to one senior and one graduate student who has demonstrated institutional pride during their MICA experience. Recipients of this award are students who have been leaders in the MICA or greater Baltimore community and are expected to be active as alumni, furthering MICA's reputation as a world-class institution. In the past, recipients of the award have gone on to serve on MICA's Alumni Council or continued to stay involved through volunteer opportunities.
Requirements for eligibility include:
- Graduating student (December 2020 or May 2021)
- Has been active in their discipline, either through a campus department or within the greater artist community
- Has made extensive and effective leadership contributions to the MICA community
- Excellent academic standing (has an academic GPA of 3.7 or higher)
