About Me: I have been at MICA since August 2019. I am from New York City! I like to learn about network/cybersecurity, buy things for my cat, Mia, visit parks in Baltimore, and try new local food spots.

D'andre Grant (he/they)

Assistant Director of Central Operations

Office Location: 2nd Floor Latrobe

Office Phone: 410.225.4103 | Email: dgrant@mica.edu

Contact me about Residence Life topics, questions, and concerns related to StarRez, the housing application, ESAs summer housing, and winter break housing. I'm here to help ensure that MICA students have a memorable experience while they discover independent living within our wonderful residences!

About Me: I was born and raised in New York City and lived there most of my life until I joined the MICA family. While in college, I held just about every student leadership position that was available. Becoming an RA led me to the field of residence life, and I have enjoyed the opportunity that I had working with various populations of students from all over the world and from different walks of life. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, practicing self-care, and exploring all that the Charm City has to offer. Music is a huge passion of mine. I joined my first choir at the age of 4, and later became a choir director. I had the opportunity to see 31 of 50 of the US states as a member of my college's tour choir. I have also been a member of a music fraternity since 2017 and I currently serve as National President. In addition to my love for music, I am a huge foodie and enjoy spending time in the kitchen cooking and experimenting!

About me:  I was born and raised in Goose Lake, Iowa, which ironically has no geese or lakes. Later, I moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa, and attended the University of Northern Iowa, where I saw a few geese. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media, minors in History and Creative Writing, and then my Master of Arts in Communications. After spending a year in Hobbs, New Mexico, I now reside in Baltimore, where I haven’t seen any geese yet. My favorite musicians include Florence + The Machine, Tori Amos, Agnes Obel, Soap&Skin, Fleetwood Mac, and Ennio Morricone. As far as movies go, I have a few favorites, such as Solaris (1972), Night of the Hunter, Night of the Living Dead, Possession (1981), Chungking Express, Godzilla (1954), The Seventh Seal, Twilight (1990), Audition (1999), and The Round-Up (1966). I also enjoy reading Berserk (Manga), Monster (Manga), The Memory Police (Novel), Sandman (Comic), The Incal (Comic), Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Hellblazer (Comic), and A Song of Ice and Fire. In addition to these, I love reading non-fiction, poetry, and philosophy. I enjoy cooking, going to the gym, and playing with my cat when I'm not reading, watching films, or listening to music.
