Center for Social Design

MICA's Center for Social Design is dedicated to demonstrating and promoting the value of design in advancing equity and social justice, and to inspiring and preparing the next generation of creative changemakers.

MICA's Center for Social Design is located in the heart of Baltimore's Station North Arts & Entertainment District. The center expands upon MICA's pioneering work in social design since 2007, bringing together all of our current initiatives — our award-winning practice-based studios, our graduate program, and our postgraduate fellowship program — and activating various new initiatives and partnerships.

We invite you to learn about the positive change our community of creative designers, scholars, entrepreneurs, and social activists are creating through social design.

M.A. in Social Design

Examine the Designer's Role in Society

The first degree-bearing program of its kind, the M.A. in Social Design program is uniquely positioned within the Center for Social Design. Our program will prepare you to understand and address the challenges facing society as you grow your skills, examine the designer's role and responsibility in society, and bring about social change through design.
