The Office of International Education advises on issues ranging from immigration regulations to resources available for accomplishing academic and personal goals. We offer workshops throughout the year to educate and remind international students on their immigration responsibilities and also to provide opportunities to enhance their academic experience at MICA and beyond.
New Federal CPT Guidance
Dear F-1 student community,
Effective immediately, CPT is only allowable and approvable for F-1 students in academic programs where an internship is an "integral" and "required" component in order to complete the degree plan and graduate. This means, if a student's degree plan (program or major) does not currently include a required internship, F-1 students cannot participate in an internship because CPT cannot be granted by our office.
It’s important to connect with your Academic Advisor to confirm whether or not your degree program has a required internship as an essential requirement to degree completion.
The Global Education Office is here to support all international students, and we are working with other offices including the Academic Advising, Ratcliffe Center for Creative Entrepreneurship, and the Center for Career Development to ensure everyone is aware of this change and able to discuss this change with you in more detail in individual and group sessions.
