As a longtime MICA trustee and the parent of a Class of 2016 alum, I have seen the College’s transformative impact both from the Board and within my own family. Including MICA in my plans is an expression of my gratitude and a way to help ensure that future students have the guidance, community, and freedom to develop their creative voices. I hope this commitment helps MICA remain strong, ambitious, and deeply responsive to generations of artists and designers to come.

My experience at MICA has helped me to grow as an artist, and I included MICA in my plans because I want to give back to the community and help others achieve their creative goals. I hope my future gift will help others find their own voice in their art endeavors.

We chose to include MICA in our estate plans because the education we received there allowed us to work in our chosen fields with the confidence necessary to succeed. That experience at MICA shaped us for a life in the arts from graduation in the early 1980s until today. Sue and I feel that the debt for the knowledge we have acquired must be repaid, and membership in the Mount Royal Society allows us to do so.

Our gift is made in honor of Terry’s parents, Samuel Perl and Mildred Caplan Perl. Mildred, an accomplished sculptor, was a Rinehart graduate and a recipient of MICA’s European traveling scholarship. We are pleased to support future generations of sculptors.

My experience at MICA helped me to concentrate on my chosen areas of study. These were also helped by my years at Syracuse, where I did my BFA. Having an MFA helped me for the years that I became a teacher, both in college and for many years teaching in other locations.
