Applications for the 2026 Spring Semester are now open!

Deadline to apply for the 2026 Spring Semester is February 15th , 2026 at midnight.

Applying to be a student organization is as easy as 1-2-3

Please note that if you wish to re-establish a previously active organization, you must complete the form and process outlined below as well.

Note: All new student organizations must be active for a semester to apply for funding. (Ex: New orgs in the Fall will not be eligible for a budget until the following Spring semester. New orgs in the Spring will not be eligible for a budget until the following Fall semester.) We encourage new student orgs to use their first semester to establish officers, members, and create goals for their new organization. CSE provides a variety of equipment and resources free of charge including fundraising support. Once your organization is active and established you can begin fundraising to compensate for budget holds.

To successfully complete your application you will need:

  1. An Organization Name
    • Org names can be changed after approval, if needed. It is encouraged that officers settle on a name before organization email creation occurs as you cannot edit your @mica.edu email address once it’s created.
  2. Declare Any Affiliation with Off-Campus Organizations (optional)
    • Affiliation is not required.
    • Please note that affiliation with off-campus organizations must be described and approved by the Center for Student Engagement before commitments to the off-campus organization are made.
  3. A statement justifying the need for the organization on campus.
    • How will the organization benefit students and the MICA community?
    • What is the purpose or mission of your club?
  4. Target Audience
    • Describe who the target audience of your organization would be.
  5. Events, Programs, and Activity Ideas
    • Describe what kind of events, programs, and/or activities you envision organizing as a student club.
  6. Resources Needed
    • Describe what kind of resources your organization might need from the Center for Student Engagement. (Note: All new student organizations must be active for a semester to apply/receive funding.)
  7. The names/contact information of at least two officers and any advisor(s).
    • Officers are responsible for managing all club operations.
    • Advisors are staff or faculty volunteers that support the club. If you have not found an advisor at the time of applying, the Center for Student Engagement can assist.

Wait until your application has been reviewed by the Center for Student Engagement (up to 5 business days).

If approved: Officers will be invited to schedule a 20-30 minute meeting with the Student Involvement Specialist to discuss your application, resources available to clubs, and learn more about the formal registration process.

After your meeting the Student Involvement Specialist will follow up within the week with the steps to formally register which include:

  • Finalizing your mission statement
  • Declaring officer roles and responsibilities
  • Creating goals for your organization
  • Creating your organization’s email and any social media accounts
  • Creating a club photo for the MICA App and Student Org webpage

Once formally registered all officers and advisors will be invited to the Student Organization canvas course to complete virtual asynchronous training. All officers and advisors for the club must complete their training within a month of being invited.

After finalizing your registration and all canvas training is complete, you will have access to all the resources available to student organizations, including reserving space and equipment, advertising on campus, and professional development and networking opportunities.

If denied: Review the comments on the denied application. Applications are denied if others have already applied and been approved for the same or similar student organization. CSE can connect both groups of interested students to work together if interested.
