MICA Wellness is dedicated to promoting health oriented activities and programs to enhance the overall health + wellness of the MICA ecosystem.

Our Wellness Coordinators are committed to supporting the well-being of our students by offering programs, events, and resources that encourage a balanced, healthy lifestyle. Our initiatives span across campus and focus on physical, mental, emotional, and social wellness, recognizing that student success is rooted in overall well-being.

Meet our Wellness Team!

Health Promotion Educator 

Alexandra François is a public health ambassador and fitness enthusiast who has dedicated more than 12 years in the sports medicine, fitness, health, nutrition and wellness industry helping children, athletes, and everyday people surpass their fitness goals. She additionally serves as an adjunct professor of Health and Exercise Sciences at Coppin State University. Alexandra is committed to educating and guiding everyone she encounters into shifting mindsets towards living the healthy lifestyle.

Credentials:

  • USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach Level 1
  • American College of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer
  • Certified TRX Functional Training Specialist
  • B.S in Exercise Physiology (Winston- Salem State University)
  • M.S in Exercise Science: Wellness and Nutrition (Liberty University)
  • PhD in Health Sciences: Healthcare Leadership (Liberty University- current)

Lydia Wiles
My name is Lydia Wiles, I am a junior photography major minor in graphic design and film! I am excited to be a wellness coordinator this year I love to plan events. Some fun facts about me is that I play 3 instruments (guitar, piano, and violin), me and my siblings birthdays are all in October, and I’ve been to more than 10+ concerts!
 
 
Norton Reyes Vargas
Norton Reyes-Vargas is a marathon runner, curator, and researcher. Founder of the digital Latin American art magazine MONOCHROME, he is currently pursuing his MFA in Curatorial Practice at MICA. Norton combines the discipline of long-distance running with his commitment to cultural research and creative practices.
