New Master’s Degree in Game Design
MICA has announced a new Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Game Design, which is a fully online, 30-credit graduate degree for emerging and mid-career professionals to design and lead games across platforms and genres. The program will launch in spring 2027.
Offered through the School of Creative and Professional Studies, the MPS in Game Design is taught by faculty who work in the field and offers students three specialization tracks: Visual Design and Art Direction; Game Design and Interactive Systems; or Gamification, Learning, and Applied Game Design. The program ends with a two-course capstone sequence culminating in a fully developed game prototype.
President McCormick Talks Bicentennial on Podcast
MICA President Cecilia M. McCormick talks 200 years of MICA on the April 15 episode of The Truth In This Art, an arts and culture interview podcast hosted by Baltimore-based Rob Lee. In the conversation, McCormick shared her vision for the college over the bicentennial year and beyond. She connected the bicentennial events to three themes — illumination, innovation, and entrepreneurship — and discussed how MICA is evolving to meet workforce demand. As she explained, MICA students, faculty, and alumni stand out from the crowd because business leaders want creatives at the table.
