Searching for a deeper intellectual challenge and the opportunity to engage with ideas at a more advanced level in your first year at MICA? Consider the Research Intensive Track for FYE and transfer students.
Students in this pathway take a sophomore-level research intensive Humanities and Sciences seminar in the fall of their first year, followed by a rigorous art history course that emphasizes critical reading, analytical writing, and seminar-style discussion in the spring.
This opportunity is ideal for students who enjoy particularly challenging material, lively discussion, and making connections across anthropology, art, culture, history, literature, and philosophy. Students who choose this pathway often take on the
Humanities & Sciences or
Art History majors, which permit students to pursue both
studio and
academic interests during their time at MICA.
Ready to take on this track? Entrance into the program is determined by satisfactory completion of one or more AP credits or other college equivalent coursework. Didn't take AP courses? No problem - students who wish to be considered may submit a writing sample (high school essay or research paper) for consideration.
Transfer students should connect with their academic advisor about this track.
