James Rouvelle is an artist and professor working in interactive media.

Like many artists working in new digital technologies, Rouvelle has an eclectic background having received his BAarts in music from Skidmore College and master of fine arts from the Milton Avery School of the Arts at Bard College. He has also done graduate studies in composition at Juilliard School of Music and the Aspen Music Festival School.

As a composer and performer in classical music, Rouvelle directed a chamber music group and, for 10 years, maintained an active performance schedule focusing on traditional and contemporary music in the United States, as well as Finland, Germany, Sweden, and France.

Rouvelle has been a composer-in-residence, visiting artist, and lecturer at numerous schools around the world. He has also exhibited his work internationally including New York, Berlin, and Sao Paulo, Brazil. Rouvelle has taught courses in both music and interactive media at Connecticut College, University of Chicago, Parsons School of Design in New York, and Technisches Universitat in Berlin.
