Frequently Asked Questions

The Writing Studio is a free, one-on-one tutoring service for all MICA students and alumni. Most of our appointments are online but we also have in-person appointments in Decker Library.

Sessions last 50 minutes. Walk-ins are allowed when available, but scheduled appointments are recommended.

Anything written, we're happy to help with!

This includes:

  • Course assignments
  • Artist Statements
  • Application materials (e.g. jobs, grants, graduate school, Fulbrights)
  • Presentations
  • Dialogue for graphic novels, video games, or scripts

Tutors hold advanced degrees in various fields, including experienced English Language Learner specialists.

Yes, tutors experienced in working with disabilities are available. Tutor-Faculty Reports are provided with student consent.

Unfortunately, this is not a service we currently offer. 

Yes! Anyone can sign up for online tutoring.

Students are allowed up to two appointments per week.

A: Please bring a printed copy of your writing and the details of your assignment.

For virtual sessions, you'll need a reliable internet connection and access to Zoom.

Unfortunately, our services are only for MICA students and alums.
