Winter Session

Welcome back, MFAST Students! We are looking forward to your arrival to campus in January 2022!

In preparation for your visit, the Office of Graduate Studies is coordinating with your program directors to make your extended weekend the most productive. Below are important details on your Program, Class Schedule, Student Resources, and tips to help your time on campus run smoothly.

Packages arriving at Lazarus Center between 12/23 - 1/10 will be held and/or redirected to Postal & Print in the Bunting Building. Packages will be available for pick-up, 8:30-5:00, Monday - Friday, except on 12/24, 12/26, and 12/31. Between 12/27-12/30, pick-up hours will be 9-3 with a call ahead to 410-225-2202. Otherwise, everything will be brought over to Lazarus Center on 1/10.

WHERE TO STAY
There are a number of hotels in the area that have special MICA rates through the Campus Travel website. Go to their website to book.

FINANCIAL AID INSTRUCTIONS
Financial Aid information for all MFAST students, including those graduating in July 2022. Click here for more information.

MICA ID
Bring your MICA ID card to campus. Your MICA ID is required to access campus buildings and print services, including the Grad Lab. 

You must visit the Office of Campus Safety at 1501 W. Mount Royal Avenue in person to have a replacement ID card made.

Replacement IDs can be made by appointment during regular business hours, 8:30am-4:30 pm Monday-Friday. PLEASE CALL AHEAD. There is no charge to replace an ID that is not working due to technical failure. However, there is a Lost or Damaged ID fee of $25.00.

CAMPUS BUILDING HOURS

Fred Lazarus IV Center will resume 24-hour access during the MFAST Winter Session on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 through Monday, January 17, 2022. 

MICA SHUTTLE SERVICE
Limited shuttle service will run Tuesday 1/11 - Monday 1/17, 5:00pm - Midnight. 
For a campus shuttle pick-up, dial 410.225.2245, or stop by the Campus Safety security desk of any MICA building to request shuttle service.

Art Installation Resources during Winter Session 

GRAD LAB

Grad Lab is pleased to offer extended hours during the MFAST Winter Session. A student Graduate Technical Assistant will be on hand to run the checkout and print lab. Visit the Grad Lab website for more information.

FINES & LATE FEES
​Please make sure you have no outstanding balance on your account. 
  • All Grad Lab fines must be paid before you can check out additional equipment. 
  • Grad Lab can only accept payment in the form of MICARD flex dollars. Cash, credit cards, or other forms of payment are not accepted. Consider adding funds to your MICARD flex account. Fines may take up to 24 hours to be removed from your account, so please plan accordingly.
  • Late-returned equipment will result in a  fine of $5 per hour, with a daily max of $15
RESERVING EQUIPMENT
  1. If you haven't already attended Grad Lab Orientation, you will need to complete and sign a Terms and Conditions form before checking out equipment. Email to phunt@mica.edu.
  2. Reservations can be made online up to one week in advance of the pickup date. To ensure the equipment you want will be available, reserve early! 
  • Most equipment is available for a maximum 3 days.
  • Reservations cannot be made over the phone. **Some equipment may require special training or permission to check out.

DEPARTMENT OF EXHIBITIONS

The Department of Exhibitions is open on weekdays only, from 9:00am - 5:00pm. 
Please call in advance at 410.225.2280 if you have any questions.

A few exhibition kits will be available to assist you to install your artwork, including a few ladders. Please plan ahead and bring your own tools if needed, including extension cords and lights.

AV / TECH CENTER

The AV Tech Center is open weekdays only, from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM.

LAZARUS CENTER WOOD SHOP

Wednesday, 1/12 - Friday, 1/14:  ​11:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Saturday, 1/15 - Monday, 1/17: CLOSED

LOADING DOCK ACCESS
All students should have access to the Lazarus Center loading dock. If there are any issues students should ask the security guard on duty for assistance.
