International Education Resource Assistant

General Purpose

The International Resource Assistant assists the Office of International Education by providing cultural, social, and practical resources for MICA students. They use graphic design skills to create digital and printed resources for students, maintain social media accounts for International Education, and assist International Education staff in collecting and providing appropriate information to promote a global student experience at MICA. They also may collaborate with other offices to support programming for International Students. Resource Assistants may hold their position for one academic year, with the possibility to renew one additional year. You may be required to return to MICA early in fall to attend Joint Leadership Training.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create posters, flyers and other communication for events sponsored by the Office of International Education
  • Maintain social media accounts for the Office of International Education
  • Create appropriate information and referrals for international students on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to banks, phones, campus resources, cultural questions, healthcare system, classroom communication, academic success, social interactions, study abroad, etc.
  • Collecting copy/print jobs at Postal & Print and posting event information
  • Assist with workshop organization
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a currently enrolled MICA student, Sophomore or above, at time of employment
  • In good conduct and academic standing (minimum 2.5 GPA)
  • Familiarity with international student resources (specifically F1 students)
  • Proficient in graphic design programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of MICA campus resources, international student resources (specifically F1 students)
  • Interpersonal and intercultural skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively via email, handle tasks independently and collaboratively
  • Manage time and work efficiently
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality, as well as excellent and mature judgement

Compensation

  • 5-10 hours per week
  • $11.75 per hour

Conditions of Employment

  • Student employees may work no more than 20 hours per week across all on-campus positions.
