Commuter Resources

Your commute starts here. From shuttle routes and parking passes to flex spaces and everything in between, this is your go-to guide for navigating campus life as a commuter at MICA.

Transportation

MICA Transportation offers free services for students to assist with their transportation needs. All services operate during the academic school year.

MTA Bus or Baltimore Link is a local public bus that costs $2 for a one-way ticket or $4.60 for a day pass.

The Charm City Circulator is a FREE bus that travels in four routes in the central business district. The closest stop from MICA campus is at Penn Station for Purple Route that travels up to 33rd Street and down to Federal Hill.

Light Rail Link is a rail system that connects Baltimore city to surrounding counties. The north point is Hunt Valley (Baltimore county) and the south points of Glen Burnie and BWI Airport. The closest light rail stops on MICA campus is the Mt. Royal/MICA stop on Mt. Royal avenue and North Avenue, near the Station Building.

Ride-Share programs like Uber and Lyft are also available in Baltimore. Another way to get around the city is by borrowing a scooter or bike. Spin, Lime and Uber offer rentable scooters and bikes. Just download the apps to request a ride or see what scooters and bikes are available around you.

Parking

MICA has several parking lots available with a registered permit. Learn more about obtaining a parking permit here. Street parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Studio Space

Students are able to use the studio spaces in Fox Building, Room 218 and Main Building, Room 310, 4pm-12am Monday-Friday, 24 hour access on weekends.

Lockers

Need a locker to hold your artwork and supplies at Fox Building or Main Building? All lockers are assigned on first come first serve basis. You will receive an email from the Office of Student Affairs, within 3 business days, with your locker assignment if available. Learn more and register for a locker here.

Spaces to Work, Hang and/or Relax on Campus

Café Doris

Noise Level: Moderate to High (when open) Low to Moderate (when closed)

Located on the first floor of Fox Building, the café offers made-to-order paninis and other sandwiches, and has booth and table seating available to work and eat at. This is a great quiet spot to work over the weekends when the cafe is typically closed.

CSE

Noise Level: Low to Moderate

The Center of Student Engagement is a place to relax! Right next to Meyerhoff Dining Hall, find bean bags, couches, and carpeted flooring that provide a welcoming space to read or draw. Or check out our student worker space to find desks, calm lighting, and tons of student engagement memories! Just need a quick drink? CSE has a free coffee and hot cocoa bar right when you walk in!

MICA Clubhouse

Noise Level: Low to Moderate

Newly renovated on the 3rd floor of 81 Mosher the MICA Clubhouse is home to a large open floor plan with foosball, ping pong, couches, two vending machines, a kitchen stocked with coffee and hot cocoa, and 12 private offices available on a first come first serve basis!
