Strategic Initiatives (SI) innovates and executes projects, develops research opportunities, identifies revenue sources, undertakes strategic planning, and crafts strong internal and external partnerships that build MICA’s institutional resilience and help the College thrive with Baltimore. SI was launched in July 2015 to lead opportunities that create distinctive and competitive advantages for MICA and the Baltimore region.
On April 21, 2022, Strategic Initiatives at MICA and the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance (GBCA) are hosting the ninth annual Baltimore Thinkathon, a “think and do” event with artists, cultural activists, community leaders, scholars and funders.
It is a half-day of collaborations, generating innovations and strategies with fellow thinkers and doers who work across the city and beyond. This year's theme is Art and Equity, and will be held from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on April 21 via Zoom.
MICA Grassroots DesignFest, sponsored by the T. Rowe Price Foundation, is an amazing opportunity to contribute to the social change movement in Baltimore while collaborating face-to-face with other designers and nonprofits. Teams of volunteer designers work with grassroots nonprofits to prototype logo designs, website updates, branding strategies, and more - all in one jam-packed event.
