MICA Ceramics Department Access Policy for Spring 2021
The Ceramics department welcomes graduate students and undergraduate seniors who are interested in working with the medium during the spring 2021 semester on a limited (as defined by MICA’s operational mode and the department’s access policies) and case-by-case basis. In order to use the ceramic facilities, students must present the Chair with an “Individual Proposal” for consideration. Proposals are only accepted from students who can demonstrate previous experience with the medium suitable to their project’s goals. Proposals should ideally be submitted early in the semester in writing to the Chair, David East at email@example.com. Proposals should include a detailed accounting of the work, including number and scale of pieces and processes and materials used. If approved, a material fee may be charged depending on the scale and type of project proposed. Current Ceramics seniors will have access to their individual studios shop during building hours and to the department’s facilities during staffed hours.
Ceramic Majors and Concentrators, students who are registered in CE classes for spring and also those who submit and are approved for independent access will have access to drop off firing services. Please contact David East at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more.
