What personal data does MICA collect from you?

When you complete an online Admission Inquiry form, Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) will collect your personal contact information, such as email address, phone number, and mailing address.

Why does MICA collect this personal data?

MICA will use your personal data for the purposes of:

(1) communicating with you about potential Admission and Financial Aid and/or Summer Pre-College programs; and (2) considering you for admission or scholarships. If you are too young to apply for admission, MICA will share your personal data with MICA's Office of Open Studies programs.

What lawful bases does MICA have to collect your personal data?

MICA will collect your personal data based on your consent or MICA’s legitimate interest in recruiting art students.

Who will have access to your personal data?

MICA’s Admission and Financial Aid Counselors and Open Studies Summer Pre-College program may access your personal data. Our counselors look forward to contacting you.

Will MICA share your personal data with third parties?

No. MICA respects your privacy and security.

What rights do you have regarding your personal data?

You have the following rights regarding your data:

(1) know what we do with it, including whether we use it for automated decision making or profiling; (2) access it; (3) correct it; (4) delete it; (5) restrict its use; (6) transfer it; and (7) object to its collection or use.

What will MICA do with your personal data?

MICA’s Department of Admission and Financial Aid will store your personal data electronically within MICA’s secure systems or with third party cloud providers who are contractually required to maintain the security of the data. Any physical document that includes your sensitive personal data will be digitized, shredded after digitization and stored electronically.

For how long will MICA store your personal data?

MICA will store your personal data for no longer than is necessary to accomplish the purposes for which it is collected.
