Academic Policies

Course Repeats

Courses may not be repeated for credit to fulfill degree requirements, except when specified in the course description. Individual exceptions may be approved by the student's major department chairperson or graduate director and must be recorded with the Office of Enrollment Services.

If a student has earned an "F" grade, the course may be repeated until a passing grade and credit are earned [pursuant to applicable dismissal policies]. At that time, the failing grade(s) will be replaced with a repeat designation of "R" and will not be calculated into the grade point average. [The student may also petition to the department Chairperson or graduate Director to repeat a course for which a grade lower than "B-" is earned.] this policy may also apply to courses in which a grade of "D" is earned, but must be approved by the department Chairperson or graduate Director.
