Federal Direct Loan for Returning Students

Please carefully follow the directions listed below to apply for federal student loans.

All federal student loans will be made directly by the federal government through Direct Lending.  If there are any unexpected changes in the procedures below, we will notify you.


Before You Begin

The amount of any Federal Subsidized and/or Unsubsidized Direct Loan listed on your Award Letter is the maximum amount you are eligible to borrow. You may borrow any amount up to this maximum amount and write the amount you wish to borrow on the Award Letter. Please initial after the amount you wish to borrow.

You must have your FSA ID handy, which you will use to complete the FAFSA. If you cannot remember your FSA ID, follow the instructions on the website to obtain a new one. Make sure to read all the information provided on the sidebar on the left side of the website.


Step-by-Step Directions

Step 1

Go to the Federal Government's Direct Lending website and sign in.

Step 2

Next, all students are required to complete Entrance Counseling to obtain a Federal Direct Loan. 

Step 3

Finally, to process your loan, complete a Master Promissory Note.
