DEVAN SHIMOYAMA – FEB 17 – 12:00 NOON – FALVEY HALL Shimoyama’s artwork depicts black queer male bodies with references from classical artists such as Goya and Caravaggio. Contemporary materials such as fur, leather, costume jewels, rhinestones and glitter are incorporated and utilized as part of the subject matter, resulting in celebrative and complicated artworks. Shimoyama states he wants his works to be perceived as “both desirable & desirous”.
