Oscar Murillo (born in Colombia, lives in various cities) is known for an inventive and itinerant practice that encompasses paint- ings, works on paper, sculptures, installations, live events, collaborative projects, and videos. Murillo’s work conveys a nuanced understanding of the specific conditions of globalization and its attendant state of  ux, while maintaining the universality of human experience.

Murillo is one of four artists shortlisted for the 2019 Turner Prize. Murillo’s works and projects have been the subject of solo exhibitions at prominent institutions worldwide and include Haus der Kunst in Munich (2017), Museo de Arte de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá (2015); Centro Cultural Daoíz y Velarde, Madrid, the Shed and Performa 15 in New York. Other international group shows include the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco (2016), the Venice Biennale (2015), Showroom MAMA, Rotterdam (2013), and the Serpentine Gallery, London (2012). His work is in museum collections worldwide, including the The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; and the Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst (S.M.A.K.), Ghent.
