Ryan Hartley Smith is an award-winning illustrator based in New York City. His practice encompasses traditional print media, community-based public art, and animated projection design for theater spaces. Smith’s print work has been awarded a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators and recognized by American Illustration and Latin American Illustration. Recent community commissions include the NYC Department of Transportation, the Delaware Art Museum, and the Center for Court Innovation. His theater work has been presented at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Tribeca Film Festival Community Series, Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater, and the Miami New World Symphony. Smith graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2006 with a BFA in painting. He received an MFA in Illustration as Visual Essay from the School of Visual Arts in 2011. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Illustration at Queens College, City
