Introduction by Liddy Wells, Chair of Accessibility Committee, Student Voice Association (SVA) In collaboration with MICA Office of Accessibility & Disability Services Accommodations & Disability Support Disabled people have always been artists, creatives, and designers, however, the arts remain very inaccessible for most disabled people because of a lack of awareness and exclusively designed spaces. In order to start addressing inaccessible cultural production, we must start by understanding more about disability identity, the history of its cultural movement’s and how we can all shift our practices to provide better access to the arts. Join a group of disabled artists and active allies from the MICA student body, alumni, faculty, and staff for a conversation that begins to address these important topics through a lecture by Robin Marquis and a conversation with George Ciscle. We thank Tiffany Holmes, Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, and the Provost Office for supporting George Ciscle’s invitation in FYE. This event is supported with live sign language interpreting.
