“Diving In: A Comic Out Loud Reading” as the name suggests is to platform my comic by reading it out loud as a required requisite to winning the JUST/Start competition. I will require tables, chairs, a projector, cameras, sound set up, and a way to sell merchandise. Free, exclusive stickers based on the comic will be given out for those who sign up to the newsletter and follow the Instagram account. Participants of the event can also receive these leftover stickers if they sign up to the newsletter and follow the Instagram account. The event could possibly be live streamed. The opening segment for “Diving In: A Comic Out Loud Reading” will be reading the comic out loud acted by 3 voice actors and myself. After we conclude the opening act we will move on to “Sper of the Moment Interviews: Starring Jasper”. This will be a scripted segment in which the titular character Jasper interviews the main cast of comic characters. Jasper will break the fourth wall at the end mentioning when they show up in the comic. The last segment would be me answering questions from the audience while giving a drawing tutorial and an MC would help select the participants. Pencils, erasers, and papers will be handed out to the audience. The event will end with a call to action to participate in a drawing contest of fanart of my characters, the prize being merch, exclusive sketches, and gift card for first place. I will encourage the participants to look up the website which includes the Comic and behind the scenes content. The winners will be announced through Instagram and contacted by email that they have won, and prizes will be sent either through mail or meeting up in person. I will sell merchandise which will include 4 sticker designs, 2 enamel pins designs, 2 keychain designs, prints, and lastly a limited run and early access version containing 12 pages of the comic and concept art.
