Come listen to Bill Caine, an independent art historian and public-art curator, talk about public art projects he has worked with in the past. For more than 25 years (until April 2025), he was a fine arts specialist for the U.S. General Services Administration’s Art in Architecture program, which is the percent-for-art program of the federal government. Since 1972, the GSA AiA program has commissioned more than 500 permanently installed artworks for federal buildings nationwide, starting with Alexander Calder’s Flamingo in Chicago.
